Framo – short for “Frankenberg Motorenwerke” – laid the foundation during these years for what would later become the well-known Barkas brand. The 901/1 stands as an early witness to that technological evolution and societal role.

Originally developed as a compact, light commercial vehicle, the Framo 901/1 offered a practical solution for local trades, rural transport, and urban logistics. Its forward-thinking four-wheel design, based on Framo’s earlier three-wheelers, made it remarkably agile and stable. This particular example from 1939 has been fully restored. The wooden loading bed was artisanally rebuilt, the bodywork professionally blasted and repainted in a period-correct color scheme. The two-cylinder two-stroke engine was completely overhauled and runs smoothly. The interior was also entirely restored with respect for the original layout.
