The Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655 is iconic because it was Rolex’s first purpose-built watch for cave explorers, featuring the distinctive oversized orange 24-hour “Freccione” hand and fixed 24-hour bezel to distinguish day from night underground.
Its bold, unconventional design, low original sales, and relatively limited production from 1971–1985 make it highly sought after today.
