LOCATION
The estate is located on the edge of the small, picturesque village of Pinswang in Tyrol (824 m) near the district capital Reutte in the Außerfern, just behind the border to Germany at Füssen in the Allgäu.
Pinswang was first mentioned in 1095. The name derives from the Old High German "Pinuz," meaning "reed, grass area with reeds." Around 200 BC, the area of Pinswang was inhabited by Celts.
The Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, part of which is still accessible at Kratzer, ran through the municipality. Below Burgschrofen is the cave castle Schloss Loch.
A shell stone suggests that the overhanging rock already provided protection for people in the Stone Age.
The historic town was first documented in 1095 and thus counts among the oldest settlements in the Außerfern (Reutte district). (Source: Wikipedia.de)
The eventful history of the village in the border area between Germany and Austria hints at traces of Celtic times - as excavations from 1993 revealed.
The Roman road Via Claudia Augusta crossed the Kniepaß through today'sMunicipality area near Füssen. This road developed into one of the most important trade routes between Augsburg and Rome during the Middle Ages. So you are walking on historic ground!
From Pinswang, you can also directly access the Lech hiking trail. The Lechweg offers a unique natural experience, shaped by the landscape, people, and truly legendary stories.
Over approximately 125 kilometers, hikers follow the Lech: from its source near Lake Formarin in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg to the Lechfall in Füssen in the Allgäu.
