Union Glashütte

Union Glashütte as the story of an elegant watch

As the name suggests, the watch brand comes from Glashütte, which is located in the German state of Saxony. Only manual and automatic mechanical wristwatches were brought onto the market here. These watches have been manufactured since 1893 and over the years have made a name for themselves alongside Rolex , Tudor and Korloff.

History of Union Glashütte luxury watches

In 1893 Johannes Dürrstein founded the high-quality watch company. Other Glashütte companies also played a role in the production. Since 1996 only mechanical movements have been produced and the “Made in Glashütte” seal has been printed. The company's founder had been known as "Dürrstein und Compagnie" since 1874. However, since this was dissolved and Dürrstein had a lot of experience, it was easy for him to found Union Glashütte. The watches became famous beyond the German borders and, in addition to being sold all over the world, a wide range of models is also presented.

Union Glashütte models on the road all over the world

In 2012, the production of the well-known Union Glashütte watches moved to Frühlingsweg 5 and was no longer accessible to the public. Numerous historical models have become known over the years, but they are no longer in production. Around 1900, for example, L'Universelle came on the market, a pocket watch for 12,000 marks. Special features were the moon phases and an endless calendar, as well as a leap year display. The first Grande Complication was the anniversary watch number 43 from 1893 with a chronograph and a limited edition of only 6 watches. La Grandiose followed L'Universelle in 1950 and La Fabuleuse followed in 1985. Current collections are Averin, Viro, Noramis, Belisar, 1893, Sirona and Seris.
