A Rolex 1655 Explorer II with a Mk1 dial and the correct straight seconds hand is highly collectible because it represents the earliest production of the reference, produced in relatively small numbers during the early 1970s.
Collectors prize the distinctive Mk1 dial details, the unique straight seconds hand found on the first examples, and the originality of period-correct components.
Many surviving watches have had parts replaced during service, making fully correct examples increasingly scarce. When preserved with matching original components and strong provenance, an early Rolex Explorer II Ref. 1655 is among the most desirable vintage Explorer II references.

Dial: 100% original Rolex tritium pumpkin dial and matching hands that do not glow under UV light. Adorned with a straight second hand that is period correct to only the first batch of watches.
Bezel: original stainless steel bezel is sharp and in excellent condition.
Movement: 100% original hacking seconds 1575 caliber is good working condition.
Bracelet: 100% original 7836 bracelet with 380 endlink is in excellent condition and tight as it has been professionally refurbished.
