Eterna

World-famous manufacturer of raw works

Dr. Joseph Girard and Urs Schild founded the Eterna company in 1856. At the beginning, the focus was on the manufacture of raw movements for the Swiss watch industry. Just ten years later, Dr. Girard took over the company again and Urs Schild became the sole owner. It also took another ten years for the manufacturer to bring its first watch onto the market. The brand achieved its first technical milestone in the mid-1910s when the first wristwatch with an alarm function was presented. At the beginning of the 1930s, the company was split up into ETA SA and Eterna. ETA developed into the world's largest manufacturer of raw movements and supplies the Swiss watch industry with exclusive movements. Eterna continued on its path as a watch manufacturer and in 1947 presented the Kontiki collection, a waterproof sports watch. This watch became famous through Thor Heyerdahl, who completed his world-famous raft trip with it. Stars of the time like Brigitte Bardot celebrated these luxury watches and were enthusiastic supporters of this brand. During the famous quartz crisis in the 1970s, the watch brand joined the Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie AG (ASUAG), as did many watch manufacturers during this period. Today ASUAG is better known as the Swatch Group. In 1995 they joined Prof. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche's FAP Beteiligungs GmbH before the company was bought by the Chinese Citychamp Watch & Jewelery Group Ltd in 2011.

Eterna luxury watches as an investment

The company can look back on a long and lively history in which valuable and top-class collections were brought onto the market. The technical innovations and the skilled craftsmanship make these watches so unique and a profitable investment.
