ORMA 60 'Arete' Areté

The Orma 60' Arete was originally named for her sponsor, SOPRA, and was later renamed Emotion. She was purchased in the spring of 2015, and sailed from France to her summer home in the Great Lakes USA.

In the summer of 2020, Arete and the owner Rick Warner, an accomplished and well known sailor - sailed in Lake Michigan in an attempt to beat the Chicago to Mackinac World Sailing Speed Record.

In the summer of 2020, Arete and the owner Rick Warner, an accomplished and well known sailor - sailed in Lake Michigan in an attempt to beat the Chicago to Mackinac World Sailing Speed Record.

The effort put in by the team during a 6 year campaign, with extensive modifications and team work has rewarded this team and boat with 3 WSSRC records.

This racing trimaran has taken part in races such as the 2006 Route du Rhum and the 2007 Transat Jacques Vabre and represents a rare chance to experience the most exhilarating sailing possible.


Arete currently resides at her winter home in Chicago, Illinois.

Originally built by Mag/Ocea (France) in 2002 this Nomex core carbon rocket ship of a trimaran was designed by the renowned studio of Marc Lombard.


This ORMA 60' trimaran belongs to the very exclusive group of racing sailing yachts in being able to reach speeds exceeding 40 knots. She can also attain cruising speeds up to 20 knots in medium sea and wind conditions. An excellent entry level racing trimaran with a good maintenance and service history with all the vices ironed which will reward those looking for the thrills that only the likes of these mid-sized offshore racing trimarans can provide.
