Construction
The hull and deck are constructed using Vacuum Infusion of Vinyl ester resin, foam, and Soric GRP sandwich with unidirectional and biaxial laminates. The hull is reinforced with infused GRP stringers in the keel and bow sections. The hull and deck are molded in a single tone off-white, with a high traction non-skid molded deck. Carbon fiber beams are laminated on the keel box and glued to the deck to support mast compression and the keel hydraulic ram. The boat features two transoms hung balanced rudders made of GRP foam sandwich, red chainplates bolted to the main structural bulkhead, and all bolts, screws, and fittings are made of stainless marine grade stainless steel. The underwater areas are faired and ready for sanding, epoxy primer, and antifouling application.
Swinging Keel System
The swinging keel features an "elephant leg" lead bulb, a main steel structural element, and an epoxy GRP enclosure. Laminated areas of the keel are pre-painted with epoxy primer for easier antifouling treatment. It is operated by a manually operated hydraulic pump with a stainless steel hydraulic ram built into the carbon fiber mast support.
