Remarks

This Beneteau 49 was built in Marion, South Carolina, USA. The first owner sailed her from Charleston, USA, to the Caribbean (US Virgin Islands). In between seasons, it was kept dry (from late April until November). The second owner bought it at the beginning of 2021, updated it, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean with the ARC in May. It sailed in the Mediterranean Sea in the Summer of 2021 and 2022. Now the boat is 20 minutes from the centre of Barcelona, Spain, and 10 minutes from the International Airport of Barcelona. The Beneteau 49 represents an era of genuinely exceptional Beneteau sailing yachts. The profile and look of the hull and deck, designed by Berret/Racoupeau, were modernized while retaining the significant assets that have made Beneteau yachts admired for decades. Below decks, Nauta drew excellent lines, brilliant woodwork, and superb materials to bring the Beneteau 49 to a fresh level of interior luxury. The owner has just bought a 2011 Suzuki engine of 15hp 4t for the dinghy. The engine impeller has been changed, the turbo has been overhauled, and the anodes have been changed. In April 2024, the antifouling was done together with maintenance of the propeller and replacement of the anodes, as shown in the photos. European VAT is paid on the boat.

We bought the boat to cruise the Caribbean Sea and cross the Atlantic and then sailed the med. that was our project for two summers. Now we went back to land to work, and maybe in a few years, sail again but other places of the world. I'm a US citizen. Boats with foreign flags (like this one) and foreign owners/captains can keep the boat in Europe for 18 months before paying the VAT. If you want to stay longer, you must take it out of the EU, like Gibraltar, Turkey or Africa. We went to Turkey on October 2022. So this boat renewed its permit to stay 18 more months, so it can stay in the EU until February 2024 before exiting again.
