Vehicle description:
The factory code BMW E21 refers to the vehicles of BMW's first 3 Series, which were introduced in August 1975 as successors to the 02 models. The BMW E21 was available with four-cylinder (M10 engine) and from summer 1977 also with six-cylinder inline engines (M20 engine).
The most powerful variant of the BMW E21 was the 323i (2,316 cc, 105 kW / 143 PS).
The first BMW M3 was launched in 1986. It primarily served as a homologation model for the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and was based on the then 3 Series E30.
BMW developed a new engine specifically for the M3, whose specifications still excite today — the legendary M3 engine of the S14 series.
As a production engine, the S14 in the E30 M3 initially had 2,303 cc (S14B23), later 2,467 cc (S14B25). The nominal power ranged from 143 kW/195 PS to 175 kW/238 PS. For the export markets of Portugal and Italy, due to local luxury taxes, a reduced 2-liter displacement version, the S14B20 (1,990 cc; 141 kW/192 PS), was available.
In racing, the S14 in its first configuration as a 2.3 L engine developed around 220 kW/300 PS, and the 2.5 L version used from 1990 achieved over 264 kW/360 PS.
The BMW E21 offered here is a dream brought to life.
It is based on a superbly preserved body of a BMW 316 from Italy. The engine, transmission, and differential are from the export version for Portugal and Italy, the E30 320is. Additionally, it features many extras from Alpina (seats, wheels, suspension, instruments, ...).
The result is impressive.
The BMW comes with German vehicle papers with a historic registration (H-plate).
