Alubat Ovni 455

The Ovni 455 is an aluminium lift keel yacht built for serious offshore cruising. They are a very safe and comfortable boat with the ability to take the ground. Ruby II was built to the highest specification with €100,000 worth of optional extras when new. Equipped for long-term cruising with high quality equipment, she is ready to go. With only two previous owners, Ruby II was purchased by her current owner in 2008 and been sailed from the UK to Turkey via Venice and all over the Mediterranean, returning to the UK in 2023. As with all Ovni's there is some bubbling/loss of the paintwork which will require re-painting at some point. The asking price does reflect that some areas, particularly around the coachroof, do require re-painting.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers six to eight berths in three cabins plus the saloon with two heads. Sleeping mattresses in the three double cabins are by Victoria Yachting with Victoria Flex under slats. Saloon cushions are blue Alcantara. Blue curtains. Two Webasto AirTop 3500 diesel fired heater units. LED cabin lighting throughout.
The forward section of the boat is given over to the master cabin with en suite heads compartment. Double berth to port with hanging lockers and storage to starboard. Forward of the berth is the en-suite heads with RM69 marine toilet, wash basin and pull out shower head. Teak grating to heads floor. A Eumenia washing machine is also located in the heads.
Accessed through the forward heads, as well as through a forward deck hatch, is a storage/workshop area giving access to retractable bow thruster, windlass motor and Aquabase 220v watermaker (winterised in 2010 and not used since).
To port, opposite the galley, a large U-shaped saloon seating area surrounds a double drop leaf saloon table.
The navigation area is aft of the saloon seating. The large aft facing chart table is surrounded by 12v switch panels, gauges and navigation equipment including radar, GPS, PC screen and VHF.
The linear galley to starboard consists of an Eno two burner gas stove with oven, double stainless steel galley sinks with pressurised hot and cold water supply and manual foot pump supply. Isotherm keel cooled 12v fridge. Plentiful stowage and work surface. Comprehensive kitchen equipment, cutlery, etc.
Aft of the galley to starboard is the day heads with RM69 marine toilet, wash basin and pull out shower. Teak grating to floor.
Two large double aft cabins both have locker space and opening ports to hull and cockpit.

Mechanical Systems

2002 Volvo Penta TMD22, four cylinder, 76hp diesel engine. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to Max-Prop three blade feathering propeller. Twin alternators. 700 litre fuel capacity across three aluminium fuel tanks. Engine has been serviced regularly until 2024, with an oil change in 2025 and negligible use since.
MaxPower retractable bow thruster (new 2022)

Electrical Systems

Five 100Ah domestic batteries (new 2025) plus single 95Ah (new 2021) engine start battery. Two bow thruster batteries (new 2022). Batteries charged via two engine alternators. 220v shore power circuit with automatic battery charger, immersion heater and ring main. 12v LED lighting throughout.

Sails and Spars

Masthead rigged sloop. Silver anodised Z-Spars double spreader, deck stepped mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (replaced 2023). Terylene running rigging. Profurl in-boom mainsail furling system. Profurl headsail furling system. Spinnaker pole stowed vertically on mast. Solid rod kicker. Mainsheet traveller forward of sprayhood. Walder boom break. Lines led aft to Spinlock clutches. Stainless steel “granny bars” at mast. The cutter rig was changed to sloop in 2023. The sail and all associated rigging is in storage and will be part of the sale.

Construction

Ovni 455 designed by Philippe Briand and built by Alubat, France in 2002. Aluminium chined hull and superstructure. Hydraulic lifting keel. Wheel steering to twin spade hung rudders. Transom and upper topsides have been completely stripped and repainted, to the highest professional standards in 2016. The underwater hull, keel and rudders were professionally stripped back to bare metal, re-epoxied and painted April 2017. Antifouled and new anodes 2026. Heat insulation above the waterline. Sound insulation. Teak laid side decks (renewed in 2014). Teak laid cockpit sole and teak slats to cockpit seats. Self-draining aft cockpit with crossbar/bridge with radar, aerials, solar panels etc.
