The Gunboat 80 is a carbon fiber performance cruising catamaran for owners who want race boat technology with real long range comfort. Designed by VPLP with Chedal Anglay Design, the 80 uses a prepreg carbon structure with a Nomex honeycomb core to keep weight low, stiffness high, and motion controlled on offshore passages.
High aspect L shaped daggerboards and retractable T rudders are engineered to generate lift, reduce drag, and keep the boat sailing efficiently in a wide range of wind angles. The sail plan and appendages are tuned to let the Gunboat 80 sail at or above true wind speed once the breeze is established, while still being manageable for a well organized private crew. A regatta configuration adds a rotating mast, taller rig, and more aggressive foil package for owners who want to push harder on the racecourse.
On deck, the bridgedeck salon is the center of the boat and connects directly to a large aft cockpit through sliding doors, so the interior and exterior living areas feel like one continuous space. Big windows and long topside glazing provide 360 degree visibility from the salon and interior helm, which is a hallmark of the Gunboat layout. Wide side decks, a forward working cockpit, and carefully planned sail handling zones keep maneuvers simple and safe on passage or in tight harbors.
Interior volume is a step up from earlier Gunboat models. The 80 can be configured with a full beam owner suite, multiple guest cabins, and separate crew accommodation, all finished in light, modern materials that keep weight under control. Layouts are highly customizable, with the option to prioritize open social areas, private retreats, or more dedicated crew and service space depending on the program.
For North American buyers, Denison Yachting represents the Gunboat 80 series and supports owners from early configuration and performance choices through build, delivery in La Grande Motte, and long term ownership.
