The N625 “Molly B” is based on the very popular Nordhavn 60 and employs some of the same production techniques being used with other similarly sized models.
Nordhavn co-owner and Chief of Design Jeff Leishman saw an opportunity to further improvise the N60 model’s proven hull. It has sustained extraordinary success beginning with the Nordhavn 55, and is also used as the basis of the Nordhavn 63. The result is a fresh, modern exterior that’s keeping with the sleeker feel that has been injected into the latest models.
The N625 maintains the same footprint as the N60, but also feels entirely different: the flybridge is slightly more spacious, the windows in the cabins are larger, and there’s additional seating on the foredeck. It feels lighter and brighter and gives a sense of a bigger boat, even though size-wise, it’s nearly identical. Like the N60 and N63 before her, the N625 has three cabins – two below and one behind the wheelhouse.
General Interior
As mentioned, “Molly B” has a similar interior layout to the popular Nordhavn 60. The salon, galley and VIP guest cabin are all on the main level. Downstairs is the utility room and access to the engine room. Upstairs is the second guest cabin and access to the pilothouse. Entering from the aft cockpit door, one enters the salon area. The salon of “Molly B” is coated with rich cherry wood veneer. The cherry wood tones are complimented with a lighter linen color textured wall covering. To finish it off, the upholstery is a subtle linen color on the settees and loose tub style recliner chairs. The flooring of the salon has wall-to-wall carpeting, and the stone countertops, which pass through to the galley, are a lighter “Artic White” color. The “L” shaped settee wraps around the semi-gloss finished cherry wood salon table with seating for six guests.
Forward of the salon dining settee is a pass through into the spacious galley area. This layout allows the chef in the galley to stay connected with the guests in the salon area. The galley of the Nordhavn 625 is larger than the Nordhavn 60 and is equipped with the finest and most up-to-date appliances.
Moving forward from the salon is access to the owner’s suite, which is a full beam suite with ensuite head. This cabin is equipped with ample drawer storage and hanging locker storage. There is plenty of natural light from the portlights as well as the overhead hatch. The head has a walk-in molded FRP shower for ease of use and easy maintenance.
In the bow of “Molly B” is the VIP guest cabin. This luxurious cabin offers plenty of room for your guests and has an ensuite head as well with a molded FRP walk-in shower as well. There is a queen bunk with ample hanging locker and drawer storage. In the floor of the VIP guest cabin is access to the “basement”, or the forward machinery area. This is a great location for spare parts and luggage. This area also houses the fresh, gray and black water systems. It is well insulated so sound does not penetrate into the guest cabin.
On the starboard side of the galley there is a gentle staircase upward to the pilothouse and another downward to the utility room and engine room. The downstairs utility room houses the full size washer and dryer as well as a front loading freezer. There is a work bench and more storage in this area as well. Access to the engine room through a watertight door is located here in the utility area.
Up the stairs from the galley is the pilothouse, guest/captain’s cabin and a full head. One major difference between the Nordhavn 625 and 60 is that the 625 has room for a secondary Stidd chair at the helm. The pilothouse has a gorgeous “L” shaped settee in the wheelhouse and the dash is equipped with top-of-the line electronics installed by Alcom Marine. This a Furuno based system with Simrad autopilot heads. You will find similar systems on a majority of Nordhavns out there. The pilothouse of “Molly B” is equipped with port and starboard Dutch style watertight doors to access the Portuguese bridge area. Aft of the pilothouse is the guest/captain’s cabin with a full head next door that can double as a day head as well. The main electrical panel on the Nordhavn 625 has been shifted up to the wheelhouse so the operator has control of the entire vessel from one central location.
General Exterior
The exterior of the Nordhavn 625 “Molly B” is very well thought out for ease use, access and maintenance. Starting at the bow, the foredeck is simple with access to the anchor well, windlass and bow pulpit. A unique new feature are the molded settees in the brow of the Portuguese bridge. This a great place to sit and relax. Aft of the foredeck is the well-protected Portuguese bridge with Bosuns storage lockers and a starboard wing control station. Aft on the port side is access to the boat deck and flybridge, and aft on the starboard side are stairs leading down to the lower cockpit area. The boat deck is equipped with a 1500-pound capacity Steelhead telescoping davit for lifting the tender. There are FRP deck boxes for extra storage here as well. Up a short staircase is the flybridge. The flybridge is a great vantage point with 360 degree views. There is a main settee with an FRP fixed table and a secondary settee off to the starboard side. The flybridge is covered by an FRP hardtop with integrated lighting and speakers. Mounted at the flybridge helm are two Pompanette helm chairs.
Downstairs is the cockpit location. This deck is equipped with access to the lazarette, a built-in BBQ console with an electric BBQ and a watertight door to the salon. Here in the cockpit there is a control station for maneuvering and/or docking. Access to the dock from the cockpit is through the aft boarding door onto the extended swimstep or through the boarding door down the port side walk way. This is such a comfortable space for just lounging around or entertaining guests.
